The RainShield System

So what exactly is a RainShield roof?

Simple...it's Fluid Applied Reinforced Roofing, aka polyester-reinforced asphalt-emulsion roofing. This roofing system utilizes a superior asphalt-emulsion as the waterproofing component and super tough polyester-mat as the reinforcement component. The system allows us to offer you more options that other types of roofing cannot. More importantly, it provides a quailty solution for leaking roofs at a fraction of the cost compared to most re-roofing alternatives. And with 12-year or more availible leak-free warranty, a new RainShield roof clearly becomes the best choice.

Check Out The Benefits:

SAFE. There are no kettles or flames used. The emulsion is applied at ambient temperature. This eliminates the possibility of injuries from 500 degree asphalt, and fires caused from overheated kettles or torches.

ODORLESS.
Asphalt emulsions have NO odor, unlike the odors of melted asphalt or tar. Because there are no odors to irritate customers or employees, the project is less disruptive to your ongoing income producing business activity.

SUPERIOR ASPHALTS.
Highland's system uses time proven asphalt emulsion. It is composed of asphalt particles, encapsulated by colloidal clay. It does not support combustion, which enhances the fire rating of the roof. Asphalt heated in kettles is quickly degraded if overheated.

LIGHTWEIGHT.
The system's light weight allows application over the original roof with a minimal weight increase: 40 lbs. per 100 sq. ft., as opposed to the 175 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. for a cap sheet, and 500 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. for a gravel roof. SUPERIOR

STRENGTH.
The polyester is over 300% stronger than fiberglas or organic roofing felts.

FLEXIBILITY.
Asphalt emulsions retain their oils, and remain flexible. Melted asphalt returns to a brittle state once it cools.
CREATES A MONOLITHIC ROOF. As the polyester is embedded in the emulsion, the saturated membrane becomes a seamless, integral part of the total roof system.

KEEPS THE ROOF AND BUILDING COOL.
The white elastomeric and aluminum reflective coatings protect the roof from ultraviolet deterioration, and reflect solar induced heating from the building interior. This lowers the work load of the AC equipment, reducing energy, maintenance and utility costs.

COST EFFECTIVE.
This system can be expensed as maintenance, rather than capitalized over the years like a conventional roof.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
Since there is no tear-off of the existing roof, we are not contributing to landfill. The reflective coating reduces roof surface temperature and saves electricity.

THE MAJORITY OF YOUR INVESTMENT STAYS ON THE ROOF. This installation uses 4 men to apply the polyester and emulsion system. It takes 10 to 15 men to apply hot systems. This means the cost of the materials is more than the cost of labor, so more of your investment stays on the roof.

NO INTERIOR EXPOSURE.
The interior, and contents of the building remain protected during the roof installation because the existing roof is not torn off. There is no chance of being caught by an unpredicted storm and no roof.

EASY ROOF MAINTENANCE.
Because of the smooth roof surface, any damage in later years can be easily seen, simplifying
repair. There will not be miles of seams to check, or a rough gravel surface under which to search.

STOP BUYING THROW-AWAY ROOFS.
At the end of the system's service life, all that is needed is an upgrade. Budgeting for roofing expenses will become accurate and predictable.

SEAMLESS. There is one mile of laps on a typical 15,000 sq. ft. capsheet roof. A seamless roof eliminates the possibilities for leaks occurring along an entire mile of seams for every 15,000 sq. ft. of capsheet roofing.
